Movies and webseries are different
When it comes to web series, first thing to be keep in mind is, that one should not write like a movie for a web series because, both are different medium, we should be clear in this.
If i have a lengthy story, i wrote this as a feature film but it runs for about 5 hours. So I'm going to break it into 20 minutes segment each and take up as a 15 episodes web series. It doesn't work like that and it is not done like that, this has a different structure. So keeping this in mind, we should work in that way.
Why can't we write a web series like writing for a movie?
Why I say that is, I have a certain reasons this, I'll explain this one by one. When you write a web series all their points will come to your mind.
#1 Keep minimum character
While writing a web series we cannot write many characters and won't be able to play many things. It will be better received with limited characters & space in a limited world. Because, when you keep minimum characters, audience will be able to connect with every character.
Minimum character which I say here is atleast 5-7 characters, which are main first line character. Front line characters which are basically impact the story.
If many characters come into the story, audience may not be able to connect with the main characters.
#2 Keep more conflict
When we write for film we write a major conflict and how they overcome that, that journey is what we try to show in a film, but we can't do the same in a web series. With a single conflict we cannot do more episodes.
Even if it is a small one it doesn't matter but, new conflicts need to kept in every episodes.
If it is a big conflict and the story is about how they overcome this, in such cases the audience may feel some lag in the series. So in every episodes even if it's only for 10 minutes, try to keep a conflict in it.
If the arc is clear then it will be more engaging for the audience, they will watch further episodes. You should not stay away from the storyline and create small conflicts.
Similarly, if you want to entrap the audience from one episode to next one, every episode should have a linkage. So you have to work in all such minor details.
#3 Series can show anything
In movies we cannot say certain things but we can convey such things in web series, because in movies when you sit and watch it with 100's of people, some things cannot be accepted in public space but in our private space we may able to accept such things easily.
First in these web series violence and sex related stuffs are conveyed at max level because, we cannot accept such things in public place but as a individual it may be justifiable. For such perspectives, web series were made a lot but over the course of time it become a business strategy and now a days unwanted scenes are kept in a web series.
At the same time market is also much bigger than movies because in theatre to you have to make a movie that everyone likes.
Here in web series even if you target a specific audience your product has more chances to reach them, so keep them in mind and include more things that can connect with them.
#4 Keeping a big deal
Keeping a big deal in our mind and waiting for that, most mindset of many people was doing their first webseries with a big company, but if you look at this practically, they start the production individually and if it becomes successful, they sell it to big companies and get funds to extend the series production.
This is what happening all over the world, currently the series " LITTLE THINGS " , first season released in you tube, after the successful hit of the first season, NETFLIX liked the series and started producing for the series by following, that the 2nd and 3rd season Netflix partnerned with them and streamed it in their platform.
So like that we should not be in a mindset where we should only do this for Amazon prime, Netflix, hotstar. Even if you start this individually independent, if your content is good, you will get streaming partners. So don't rattle your mind about this and give your best.

By these tips and points what we understand is that webseries and movies are different worlds. Web series and another some method of writing. By practice we can make good web series.
